Louis Cicotello, Professor
of Visual Art
Professor Cicotello was educated at Carnegie-Mellon University (BFA in sculpture) and received an MFA in sculpture from Yale University. He
completed studies in figure sculpture and drawing at the Ecole des Beaux Arts L'Americaine of Fontainebleau, France. His art in sculptural assemblage
and collage has been exhibited nationally in juried and invitational exhibitions. The aesthetic of these configurations is often determined by
deliberate juxtapositions of culturally and physically different elements. His book on aesthetic issues in modern art The Golden Avant-garde;
Idolaltry, Commercialism and Art co-written with R. Sassower was published by Virginia University Press 2001.
Professor Cicotello
teaches courses in Foundation Studies both 2D & 3D, Color Theory, Collage, Assemblage, Figure Sculpture, History of 19th
and 20th Century Sculpture, Aesthetics and various Humanties topics including the "Value of Art", "Vampires, Whores and Savages", "Bad Girls?" and
"Radical Chance Since 1945"
