Online Gerontology Certificate Program

This program of online coursework is the academic equivalent to the Gerontology Minor offered at UCCS. The following four courses comprise the core of the certificate:

Introduction to Gerontology (GRNT 300)
Biomedical Aspects of Aging (HSCI 280/GRNT 204)

Sociology of Aging (SOC 462/GRNT 462)
Psychology of Aging (PSY 463/GRNT 463)

These courses are offered in online format utilizing the eCollegesm <http://www.ecollege.com/> platform.

Each course earns three (3) credit hours and costs $615.00. The certificate is earned by completing twenty-one (21) credit hours in gerontology-related coursework with grades of 2.0 or above. In addition to the four online core courses, students must complete a three-credit-hour field experience course in their local communities and six elective credit hours (which may be completed at the student’s home institution). The Gerontology Center must approve the field experience course and the elective hours. Students who complete the program will be awarded an Academic Certificate in Gerontology.
