Computational Biology
Computational Biology is the scientific
discipline that specifically uses information technology
to solve problems in biology, biochemistry, biophysics
and medicine.
Under the leadership of
Dr. Karen Newell, UCCS has recently developed a Certificate
Program in Computational Biology /Bioinformatics. More
information about this program is available at: www.uccs.edu/~biology/uccscompbiol
A second program is offered by the University of Colorado
Center for Computational Biology (CCCB). CCCB is comprised
of faculty at CU Denver, Health Sciences Center and
the Colorado Springs campuses. It is housed at CU Denver.
CCCB offers a Certificate in Computational Biology and
a M.S. in Applied Mathematics with an Option in Computational
Biology. More information about this program is available
at : www.cudenver.edu/ccb
Undergraduate biology students that are interested in
this field are encouraged to use elective hours to enroll
in calculus and computer science courses.
