Parking

Fall 2006 Commuter Student
Parking Information

General Information

For most parking lots, A VALID PERMIT MUST BE DISPLAYED ON YOUR VEHICLE BY THE FIRST DAY OF CLASSES, August 21, 2006.  There is NO "grace period."  Tickets WILL be written for violations the first day of the semester.  Please read the following information regarding parking options.  Owning a permit, without displaying the permit, will result in a ticket.  Permits sold are valid for the Fall semester only and will expire December 16, 2006 (unless explicitly stated otherwise).

Cars violating parking regulations will be subject to ticket and/or tow.  Parking is on a first-come, first-served basis.  Purchasing a permit entitles you to park in certain parking lots on campus.  YOU ARE NOT PURCHASING A RESERVED PARKING SPACE.  Students should direct all inquiries concerning parking/traffic to Parking Services at 719-255-3528.

Non-permit restricted parking areas

Commuter Students who do not purchase a parking permit may park at the Four Diamonds Sports Complex, 5025 North Nevada Avenue.  No permit is required.  The student Safety and Transportation fee provides students with free shuttle service from Four Diamonds to the main campus.  A Student I.D. is required to ride the Four Diamonds Bus.  Overnight parking (12 a.m. - 6 a.m.) at the Four Diamonds area is prohibited.

Student Safety and Transportation Fee

All students are automatically charged a Safety and Transportation fee.  This fee is not a parking fee and is not used for parking facilities.  This fee is used to provide enhanced police services and shuttle services from far parking lots to the campus.

Transportation Services

The Four Diamonds Sports Complex is serviced by a transportation system.  A shuttle runs fall, spring, and summer semesters only from 7:05 a.m. to 10:25 p.m. Monday through Friday.  Shuttle service is continuous, every 30 minutes.  If you plan to park at the Four Diamonds, please see the schedule.  Due to increased demand on this system, students parking at the Four Diamonds Sports Complex should anticipate arriving 30 minutes prior to the start of their first class.

Students riding the Four Diamonds bus will be required to show a valid Student I.D. when boarding the bus.

Service to University Hall:  For detailed information on service to University Hall, see the online schedule.

Paying Fees and Purchasing a Permit

The Safety and Transportation fee is billed directly to the student's account.

All other permit costs must be paid at the time the permit is picked up and cannot be billed to the student's account.  The Parking Office accepts personal checks, cash, Mastercard and VISA.  Student's may also elect to have their permit mailed to their home via regular mail by purchasing their permit on-line and agreeing to pay a $4.00 shipping and handling charge.

Refunds

Fall 2006 Permits may be returned for a full refund through September 7, 2006.

The Safety and Transportation fee is refunded only if a student completely withdraws from classes.  The refund of the Safety and Transportation fee is done in accordance with the calendar on page 4 of the Schedule of Courses and follows the refund schedule for all tuition and fees.
